Arriving in Romania on the 4th of July, I didn’t know what to expect. But after meeting my new team mates I felt very comfortable straight away.
It was also good to have a fellow Aussie in the side ‘Luke Samoa’ who has been here since beginning February. I was given instructions from him and a few fellow foreign players to get ready for contact training because it will be a very physical session…. My first week of training sessions was difficult but a new learning curve for me, not only did I have to learn new back line plays but also the calls in the Romanian language.
The first week consisted of 3 x training sessions a day with field and gym in the mornings and field in the afternoons. In the Second week we left for our rugby camp in Fundata Mountains which is near Brasov. The camp is very vital for our lead up to our encounter against ‘Steaua’ in Bucharest (Capital of Romania). Everyday has been very intense but rewarding as we are getting closer to game day.
Today will be a last hit out before our match tomorrow in the capital and I’m so grateful to be selected for the starting side for my first game. I’m definitely Looking forward to be running alongside Luke Samoa and hopefully we CSM Stiinta Baia Mare can get the win.
